FAQs
Fees
Please get in touch for more information about fees. Discovery Psychology fees are well below the recommended fee for psychologists set by the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPI) and the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
We understand that psychology sessions and assessments can be expensive. As a solo clinician practice, we aim to keep our fees as low as we can.
Is there a wait list?
For assessments, we are generally able to book you in within a month of your enquiry.
Our capacity for ongoing support fluctuates, please get in touch and we can let you know whether we have any slots available at the moment.
Medicare Rebates
You may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 therapy sessions per calendar year. To access Medicare rebates you will need a valid Medicare card. You will need to obtain a referral and Mental Health Care Plan from your GP. A gap fee will still be charged on Medicare sessions.
If you are not eligible for Medicare rebates, or have used up your 10 rebated sessions, you can still see a psychologist by paying the full fee.
NDIS Funding
At Discovery Psychology, Susha can see individuals on both self managed, and plan managed NDIS plans.
Assessments
Please get in touch to discuss the assessment process and fees. Fees will vary depending on which assessments are required. All assessments include a parent intake interview, assessment session(s), a comprehensive report with recommendations and a feedback session. As well as your time spent with the clinician, assessment fees take into account all assessment resources, time spent working through questionnaire and assessment results, as well as report writing time. Our reports are written with care and take many hours to complete.
Unfortunately there are no medicare rebates available for cognitive, educational and ADHD assessments, however, you may be able to claim a portion of the fee on your private health insurance.
You may be eligible for a medicare rebate for autism assessments if you have a referral from your paediatrician.
The attached document includes further information regarding the assessment process.
